Darren Wallace Wilkins, 47, Leavenworth, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1969, in Corydon, he was the son of David and Reva Sturgeon Wilkins.
He was a residential real estate contractor, owning his own business for 23 years; was a 26-year member of Posey Lodge No. 188 F&AM, serving as master for four years; was a member of First Capital Christian Church in Corydon, Corydon Council No. 122, New Albany Commandery No. 5 Knights Templar, Corydon Chapter No. 156 Royal Arch Masons and the Emmaus community; was a past board director of Southern Hills; was a WHAS Crusade for Children community coordinator; was an Olympic torch bearer in 1996; served on the local planning and zoning board; served with fire and rescue; and was a precinct committeeperson.
Survivors besides his parents include his wife of 25 years, the former Valerie Wright; two sons, Laine Wallace and Joel Lee, both at home; his in-laws, Othel and Louise Wright; a sister, Sara Wilson (Sam); a brother-in-law, Gordon Wright (Dana); two sisters-in-law, Angie Allen (Brian) and Holly Epple (Scott); and 16 nieces and nephews, Zachary Wright, Ethan Epple, Emily Epple, Tylynn Allen (Patrick), Weylin Allen, Hayley Wilson, Elaina Epple, Gustyn Wright, Grayce Wilson, Sylvia Wright, Nathaniel Wilson, Carter Wright, Autumn Wright, Lincoln Allen, Yvonne Durbin and Oakly Durbin.
Visitation: Friday, Aug. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 6, after 9 a.m. at First Capital Christian Church in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at the church with interment in Cedar Cemetery in Leavenworth.
Officiant: Pastor Vince Garmon.
Arrangements: Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
