Pease 15th at Olympic Trials

South Central Junior-Senior High School alumni Sarah Pease took to the track on the Fourth of July to compete for a United States spot at the upcoming Rio Summer Olympics 2016.
At the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in track and field, held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Pease was slotted in the first of three heats.
Pease steadily improved her position during the course of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. After falling back to seventh, she closed to place fifth in the heat with a time of 9:46.83.
To reach the U.S. Olympic Team Trials final of the steeplechase tomorrow (Thursday), the top three from each heat along with the next five fastest times moved on. Pease finished a half second behind the final spot.
From the final, the top three competitors head to Rio.
The top time during trials belonged to Emma Coburn (9:35.28).
Pease hit the Olympic standard at the Portland Track Festival on June 12 with a personal best time of 9:40.94.
