Jury finds Pal man guilty of incest
After deliberating for a little more than two hours on June 17, the jury in Harrison Superior Court found Palmyra resident Jesse Grimes guilty for all 39 counts, including 18 for incest, 18 for sexual misconduct with a minor, two counts of dissemination of harmful materials to minors and one count of obstruction of justice.
Grimes, 33, was arrested in February by Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Tucker after a warrant was issued out of Harrison County.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Grimes allegedly had sex with an under-age family member and also allegedly had shown at least one child pornographic material.
The alleged activity was reported to have occurred between August 2015 and Feb. 1 of this year in Harrison County.
Grimes was incarcerated at the Harrison County Jail following his arrest.
‘Over a thousand cases come across my desk each and every year; however, few have risen to the level of vile and heinousness that this case presented,’ Harrison County Prosecutor J. Otto Schalk said. ‘As the prosecuting attorney, I’m honored to work alongside a dedicated and relentless group of deputy prosecutors and staff. As a father, I’m glad that one less sexual predator is roaming the streets.’
