Marcell H. Schoen
Marcell H. Schoen, 90, Elizabeth, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Gustav and Dora Hussung Schoen.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville, where he was a member of the men’s club, and VFW Post 2950 in Corydon, a past commander and member of the Hornickle Post American Legion No. 379 in Elizabeth and served on the Harrison County Alcohol Beverage board.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Margery Katherine Walther; a grandson, Brian Brown; and a brother, Kenneth Schoen.
Survivors include five sons, Rodney Schoen (Judy) of Lanesville, Roger Schoen (Connie), Randall Schoen (Marsha) and Robin Schoen (Shannon), all of Elizabeth, and Ralph Schoen (Cathy) of Corydon; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Miller (Doug) of Elizabeth; two brothers, Wilbur Schoen of New Albany and Darrell Schoen (Donna) of Bellingham, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 14, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, June 14, at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Lanesville with burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Ronald Richeson.
Pallbearers: Rodney, Roger, Ralph, Randall and Robin Schoen and Doug Miller.
