Memorial Park to be dedicated
The newly-completed New Middletown Memorial Park, located at the corner of Main Street and New Middletown-Elizabeth Road, will be dedicated Sunday at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served by Bethany United Methodist Church. The public is invited.
The park is located on the grounds (4015 Main St.) where the late Gordon Pendleton’s family lived. The park was financed entirely by donations in memory of loved ones.
Anyone interested in purchasing a paver ($30) in memory of someone can do so by calling Christine Pendleton at 812-972-2016. Pendleton also said a few trees in the park are also available for dedication makers at a cost of $250.
Donations also will be accepted through the Harrison County Community Foundation endowment fund to give support to the town for improvements, upkeep and maintenance of the park.
Pendleton said the park is meant to be a memorial to all of the wonderful people from New Middletown, including her late husband’s family and those known affectionately as ‘The New Middletown Mafia.’
