Corydon Central brought the aluminum to Providence last Wednesday.
Pounding out 13 hits, Corydon Central used pops from Grace Carver and Kaitlynn Crone to defeat the Lady Pioneers 8-1.
Crone went 3 for 4 at the plate, including a home run and two batted-in runs.
Corydon Central wasted little time getting started. Kaleigh Oskin reached on a single, eventually bringing Carver to the dish with one out. Carver took a pitch from Hannah Wolford, sending it well over the centerfield fence.
Wolford settled in within the circle, limiting Corydon Central to just two base runners during the next three frames.
In the fifth, Corydon Central got going again. A single run came across when twins Sydney and Kaleigh Oskin, along with Chelsey Smith, combined for three straight singles. Smith’s hard-hit ball brought around Sydney to prompt a 3-1 Lady Panthers’ edge.
Providence had a tough time at the plate connecting off Kaleigh Oskin. The twirler completed all seven innings, giving up only two hits. She sat down 15 Lady Pioneers via strikeout and walked just one batter.
The lone run for Providence was unearned when Olivia Benningfield plated a run with a double. Wolford reached the plate appearance prior by error.
Additional runs came across for Corydon Central in the sixth and seventh innings.
In the sixth, Alexis Orme singled and came home when Crone circled the bases for a home run.
To add three more runs in the seventh, Kaleigh Oskin, Georgie Wimp, Crone and Orme had hits.
To go with Kaleigh Oskin’s performance on the rubber, she also went 3 for 4 at the plate.
A multi-hit game also was had by Crone (3 for 4) and Orme (2 for 4).
Benningfield had the only two hits for the Lady Pioneers.
