Clyde R. Windell


Clyde R. Windell, 93, Corydon, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Center ‘ Indian Creek in Corydon.
Born March 10, 1923, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late John L. and India Hunt Windell.
He was a Marine Corps veteran during World War II, serving in the South Pacific, owner of General Printing and C&B Printing, a long-time employee of the old Corydon Republican newspaper, formerly employed with the Civil Conservation Corps, a member of the Harrison County Tax Appeals Board and the Knights of Pythias, a life member of the VFW Post 2950 and attended Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Bonnie E. Shireman; two sisters, Edith Ozkowski and Ethel Pate; and a brother, Edward Windell.
Survivors include a son, Roger L. Windell (Patsy) of Corydon; a daughter, Dianna C. Orme (Gary) of Corydon; six grandchildren, Rick Windell (Ella), Melissa Nash (Scott), Julie Herbst (Dave), Jill Taylor (Aaron), Joni Petrowski (Rick) and Jonathan Orme; 14 great-grandchildren, Tina Morton (Andy), Tonya and Amber Windell, Megan, Allison and Colton Nash, Jenna and Gabriel Taylor, Madison Whittaker, Jacob Herbst and Haley, Nathan, Ashley and Nick (Caiti) Petrowski; and nine great-great-grandchildren, Trinity, Tristen and Charles Lone IV, Samantha, Toby, Ben and Teddy Morton and McKenzie and Alina Petrowski.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 20, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Wednesday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Janet Kelley.
Pallbearers: Rick Windell, Jonathan Orme, Scott and Colton Nash, Dave Herbst, Aaron and Gabriel Taylor and Rick Petrowski.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
