Early, absentee voting underway
Registered voters in Harrison County have a number of ways to vote in the upcoming May 3 Primary Election.
Absentee voting at the clerk’s office, on the second floor of the Harrison County Court House, located at 300 N. Capitol Ave. in Corydon, began last week and will continue Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed from 11:30 a.m. to noon for lunch).
There will be extended hours for voting on two Thursdays, April 21 and 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (same lunch hours apply) and two Saturdays, April 23 and 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (no lunch break).
Absentee voting in the clerk’s office will cease Monday, May 2, at noon.
To vote absentee by mail, a request has to be made with the Harrison County Clerk’s office by Monday, April 25, before midnight.
To vote by delivery from the traveling board, the request (by email or fax) has to be done by Monday, May 2, at noon.
Military or overseas voters need to request an absentee ballot by April 25 at midnight (mail) or May 2 at noon (fax or email).
The deadline to register to vote in Primary was April 4. However, the deadline to register to vote or transfer a registration for the General Election, on Nov. 8, is at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Primary candidates have until noon Friday to file their pre-primary campaign finance reports with the clerk’s office.
