Edward H. Richmer

Edward Herman (Ed) Richmer (Command Sergeant Major, Ret), 84, New Albany, died Monday, March 14, 2016, after a battle with cancer.
He retired from U.S. Naval Ordnance Station after 33 years and at the same time taught advanced mathematics and machine tool training, 33 years at Prosser School of Technology, and served 35 years active duty and active Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of CSM. He then drove a school bus for New Albany-Floyd County School Corp. for 14 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council in New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mariquita T. Richmer; parents, Clemens A. Richmer and Evamay Bach Richmer; a son, James C. Richmer; two sisters, Theresa J. Richmer and Yvonne M. Sprigler; a brother, Charles J. Richmer; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Richmer.
Survivors include two sons, Edward W. Richmer (Deb) and Anthony M. Richmer (Debbie); a daughter, Marcia Kay Richmer (Pete Wines); a brother, Wilber G. Richmer (Helen); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, March 22, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30, at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany with burial in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery near Elizabeth.
