James L. Edrington Sr.
James Lee (Jim) Edrington Sr., 81, Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born Aug. 23, 1934, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Coleman and Florence Ludwig Edrington.
He was retired from the Louisville Post Office, where he was a supervisor, was the former postmaster at the Fredericksburg office, was a Navy and Air Force veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 42, VFW Post 1693 and the La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevauk 1250 40-8, all in New Albany, and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford, where he volunteered annual at the church picnic.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Edrington; a son, James Lee Edrington Jr.; two brothers Donald and Robert Edrington; and three sisters, Dorothy Byron, Barbara Owen and Mary Cunningham.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Mary (Joanne) McCormish Holmes; four daughters, Marcy Knox, Deiadre Dery (Brian) of Louisville, Sharon Brown (Dwain) of North Carolina and Jamie Harris (Donnavon) of Greenville; a brother, Coleman Edrington (Nadine) of Lanesville; a sister, Sue Hellmueller (Walter) of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 19, after 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bradford.
Funeral: Friday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at the church with interment in the church cemetery.
