Wilma Gayle Monroe, 95, Corydon, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Beard Assisted Care near Laconia.
Born Oct. 20, 1920, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Conrad Garbrough.
She was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 2950 Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star Old Capital Chapter No. 137, all in Corydon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gilbert Monroe; a son, Donald Ray Monroe; a daughter, Ruth Ann Monroe; a brother, Amzie Garbrough; and two sisters, Norma Garbrough and Alpheia Binkley.
Survivors include three sons, Roger L. Franks (Kathleen) of Springfield, Ohio and James W. Monroe (Mary Joan) and Gary G. Monroe (Judy), both of Corydon; a daughter, Virginia Sue Purvis (Larry) of Corydon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday, Feb. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 14, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Andy Hansen.
Pallbearers: Josh Purvis, Dustin and Jeremy Monroe, Jason Taylor, Mark Franks and Carl Jenkins.
