Betty Jean Fisher Byrn Saulman, 89, Corydon, formerly of New Middletown, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation ‘ Harrison in Corydon.
Born Feb. 13, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Horace Albert Joe Fisher and Lindell Kathryn Frederick Fisher.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Woodrow (Woody) Byrn, in 1972, and her second husband of 26 years, Earl O. Saulman, in 2004, and seven siblings, Forrest Eldo Fisher, Ernest Darrel Fisher, Robert Keith Fisher, Clifford Harlan Fisher, Doris Jane Fisher Link, Susan Margaret Fisher Smith and Irma Lee Fisher.
In her early life, she worked with the public in a variety of jobs; before her second marriage, she was a business owner; and, in her later years, she was a homemaker. She was a past president and a member of the VFW Post No. 2950 Ladies Auxiliary in Corydon.
Survivors include a sister, Wanda Faye Fisher Williamson; three children, Rosalee Byrn South (Dick) of Sullivan, Leonard Howard Byrn (Janet) of Hanford, Calif., and Brian Douglas Byrn (Lisa) of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Todd Andrew South (Anita) of Sullivan, Troy Laine South of Indianapolis, Richard Shawn South (Emily) of Cicero, Jason Ryan Graff (Tara) of Elkhart, Erin Heather Byrn Pfeiffer (Travis) of Lemoore, Calif., and Amanda Lyn Byrn of Portland, Ore.; and six great-grandchildren, Adison Lee South, Ashton Laine South, Logan Shaye South, Connor Shawn South, Cole Logan Graff and Matthew William Pfeiffer.
Visitation: Sunday, Jan. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 11, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Monday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the Earl Saulman Scholarship Fund held at the Harrison County Community Foundation.
