Raymond E. Cotner Jr., 96, New Amsterdam, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
Born May 8, 1919, in New Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Raymond E. Cotner Sr. and Rozella Sonner Cotner.
He was a retired major with the Army during World War II and the Korean War, where he received the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Savilla M. Bliss and Martina M. Sonner, and a brother, Nyle E. Cotner.
Survivors include three brothers, Paul A. Cotner of New Amsterdam, Sam H. Cotner of Bloomington and Kermit Ted Cotner of New Albany.
Memorial service: Monday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church near Mauckport with burial in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Sharon Kutz-Mellem.
Arrangements: Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
