Joseph A. Carter
Joseph A. Carter, 83, Ramsey, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born June 23, 1932, in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Lorene Meriwether Carter.
He was a retired mail carrier in Harrison and Floyd counties, a former school bus driver for the New Albany-Floyd County School Corp., a farmer, a member of the American Legion and the Lincoln Hills Power of the Past antique tractor club in Brandenburg, attended Unity Chapel United Methodist Church near Ramsey and was an Army veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Melba R. Schneider, and a sister, Agnes Engleman.
Survivors include his wife, the former June Burns; a son, Joseph T. Carter of Georgetown; two daughters, Kathy Book of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Kristen Carter of Georgetown; four stepsons, Darrell Troncin of Salem and Jeremy Albers and Justin and Nathan Stilger, all of Corydon; four stepdaughters, Darlene Ferguson of Corydon, Brenda Kidd of Layton, Utah, Toni Carlson of Florida and Tina Mitchell; three sisters, Patsy Konkle of Greenville, Bonnie Weathers of Summerfield, Fla., and Sharon Quick of Georgetown; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 17, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Woods Chapel Cemetery near Ramsey.
Officiant: The Rev. Joe Hornick.
Pallbearers: Carroll Gunther, Jacob and Nicholas Carter, Greg and Brad Book and Darrell Troncin Jr.
