Lady Cats soccer ties for conference title

The North Harrison girls’ soccer program wrapped up the Mid-Southern Conference season with a resounding 9-0 punishing of Scottsburg last Wednesday.
Capping the MSC slate, the Lady Cats closed with a 4-0-1 record against league opponents.
The one tie came against Silver Creek, which also went 4-0-1. Both North Harrison and Silver Creek will share the MSC title honors.
Versus Scottsburg, all nine North Harrison goals came from the senior class.
Midfielders Kaitlyn Butler and Cheyenne Byerley showed the way, with both closing with hat-trick performances. To go with her three goals, Butler also dished out four assists. Byerley had two assists.
Scoring one goal each for North Harrison were Cammie Jones, Kaitlyn Gettelfinger and Emma Book.
Sophomore Jessicka Chiquito had a pair of assists.
In goal, senior Mariah Jo Nye earned the win, making seven saves. It was her seventh shutout of the year.
North Harrison, ranked No. 17 in the final Class 1A poll, improved to 11-1-2 overall.
The Lady Cats were slated to face 1A No. 8 Providence last night (Tuesday) in the first round of the Forest Park Sectional. The winner will play tomorrow (Thursday) versus the Salem/Northeast Dubois winner at approximately 7:45 p.m.
