Registration open for Patoka Lake triathlon

Registration is open for the ‘Head for the Hills’ Patoka Lake triathlon that will take place at Patoka Lake beach on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 8:30 a.m.
All proceeds from this event will go to support Patoka’s non-releasable raptors: a red-tailed hawk, Eastern screech owl and a bald eagle.
The event will feature swimming 500 yards in open water at the beach, followed by biking 12.8 miles along ‘hillacious’ paved roads within the property and concluding with running 3.1 miles along groomed gravel roads and a paved bike trail.
There is a gate fee of $7/vehicle in state and $9/vehicle out of state for those wishing to attend. This fee is waived for all athletes participating in the race.
Food will be provided for spectators at a concession stand and to athletes as they finish the race.
Solar heated showers are available onsite in the beach house.
Volunteers will be needed along the bike and run routes as course officials, bike security, racer tent assistants, water station hosts and more.
