Willard W. Shewmaker

Willard Wayne Shewmaker, 90, formerly of Corydon, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospice in Lady Lake, Fla.
Born March 20, 1925, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Edna Shewmaker.
He was an Army veteran during World War II, having served in France and Italy in the 141st Infantry Regiment, was formerly an employee of Warrick Buick Sales and Bill’s Auto of Corydon, was a member of Corydon Christian Church and Pisgah Masonic Lodge No. 32 of Corydon and a life member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and VFW No. 4252.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Robert Shewmaker; three sisters, Lucille, Mary and Helen; and a granddaughter, Elexa Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, the former Jewel Stepro; two brothers, Louis James (Pete) and Albert Shewmaker; a sister, Julia Hardin Baker; two daughters, Rosemary Smith of Tavares, Fla., and Sandra Shake of English; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Hawthorne Marina in Leesburg, Fla.
Arrangements: Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, Fla.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Cornerstone Hospice in Lady Lake, Fla., or the American Cancer Society.
