Pease 10th at USA Track & Field Championships

On the opposite side of the United States, former South Central Junior-Senior High School standout Sarah Pease took her shot at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last week.
Coming out of the second heat on Thursday, Pease advanced to the 3,000-meter steeplechase final on Saturday.
Competing at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Pease came away with a 10th-place spot among the 15 best in the country in a race broadcast on NBC.
Pease, a member of the Austin, Texas-based Rogue Athletic Club, completed the circuit in 9:54.07 in the final. The overall winner was 2012 Olympic qualifier Emma Coburn with a time of 9:15.59.
In the prelims, Pease took off in heat two, racing to a fifth-place finish. Her time was 9:58.8, the 10th fastest time among 26 entrants.
Pease, a three-time NCAA All-American for Indiana University, resides in Austin.
