A Seymour teenager died as a result of injuries sustained Saturday night in a single-car crash on S.R. 337 near St. Michael’s Road outside of Laconia.
According to a crash report that quotes one of the passengers in the crashed vehicle, Michelle Nicole Kiewitt, 17, was driving a 2012 Ford Fiesta north on S.R. 337. The passenger said the car was going approximately 65 mph in a 40 mph zone when Kiewitt lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree.

The first passenger said he was not injured though he was checked by Harrison County Hospital Emergency Medical Services.
A second passenger, a 15-year-old male who also was not wearing a seat belt, was also flown to Kosair due to hip pain and was listed in critical condition, and a third passenger, a 15-year-old male who was wearing a seat belt, complained of pain so was taken to Kosair by EMS personnel.
The Indiana State Police was notified of the crash and are in the process of reconstructing the crash, which is still under investigation.
