Phyllis J. Himmelhaver

Phyllis J. Himmelhaver, 87, Lanesville, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, in New Albany.
Born March 6, 1928, in New Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Leona G. Wolfe Vogt.
She served as vice chairman of the Harrison County Democratic Party for 10 years, was a manager with the Indiana State Employment Office and a member of the Lanesville United Methodist Church in Lanesville.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Himmelhaver; a son, Ronald G. Himmelhaver; two brothers, Charles and Jacob Vogt; and three sisters, Thelma Bachman, Mary Katherine Jordine and Peggy Mattingly.
Survivors include a son, Louis (Chuck) Himmelhaver of Lanesville; three daughters, Sheila Kay Bailey of New Albany, Janice Carrol of Floyds Knobs and Joyce Acton of Lanesville; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, May 11, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, May 12, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lanesville.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
