Bord E. (Curly) Byrns Sr., formerly of Albuquerque, N.M., died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Retama Nursing Home North in Pleasanton, Texas.
Born in Byrneville, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas Byrns and Ida Carroll Byrns.
He was a mechanic, was in saddle clubs and rodeos, participated in search and rescues and volunteered with organizations.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Jean Byrns, and his siblings, Woodrow, Chales Eldon (Jack), Todd and Elmer Byrns, Creta Mae Byrns Lundstrum, Loubell Stepro Tomlinson and Saldonia, Oscar and Burl Stepro.
Survivors include five children, Helen, Bord Jr., Lois, Roy and Harry Byrn; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service: Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Bruce Hawkins.
Refreshments and memorial: Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Georgetown Optimist Club.
Cremation services are being arranged by Rose Garden Funeral Home in Zapata, Texas.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the children’s charity of the donor’s choice.
