Eugene F. Rieger, 93, Corydon, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at his home.
Born April 5, 1921, in Manchester, Iowa, he was the son of the late Clarence A and Dorothy Stevens Rieger.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a medic attached to Marine units in the South Pacific. He earned a master’s degree from Denver University in Colorado, served as a teacher and principal for the Denver Public School System for more than 30 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Mary Siegel.
Survivors include a son, Thomas W. Rieger of Lilburn, Ga.; a daughter, Kathleen E. Rieger of Corydon; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
Arrangements: Private at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hosparus of Indiana or Heifer International.
