Helen S. Streepey

Helen Stoy Streepey, 86, New Albany, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015.
Born Feb. 18, 1928, in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Helen Pierce Stoy.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University in 1940 and later returned to school graduating with honors from Indiana University Southeast with a nursing degree and from Bellarmine University, where she earned her master’s degree and later taught nursing classes. She was volunteer work at the New Albany Public Library and the Carnegie Center and organized quilt shows. She was a retired registered nurse and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany, Alpha Club, Tri Kappa and numerous other organizations.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Streepey, DMD, and a daughter, Ellen Elizabeth Streepey.
Survivors include three children, Robert S. Streepey, Rebecca P. Hellams and Kathy K. Katz, and three grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with burial in Layden Cemetery in New Albany.
