Betty Lou Rooksby Byrum, 89, Laconia, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born Aug. 4, 1925, in Corydon, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie McDade and True Huffman Rooksby.
She was a former bookkeeper at South Central Junior-Senior High School, a former clerk for the Town of Laconia, an elder and member of Laconia United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Byrum; three brothers, Gael, Harry and Lonnie Jr. Rooksby; and six sisters, Madge Chilton, Violet Gasset, Faye Rooksby, Buelah Smith, Maxine Norman and Ruby Conrad.
Survivors include a son, George (Scott) Byrum of Laconia; a daughter, Peggy Byrum Barnes of Indianapolis; a sister, Louise Ashton of Corydon; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Jan. 12, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 13, after 11 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Rehoboth Cemetery near Laconia.
Officiant: Pastor Sharon Kutz-Mellem.
Pallbearers: Christopher Cunningham, Rob Barnes, Jeb Conrad, John Little, Tyler Graves and Robert T. Rooksby.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Laconia United Presbyterian Church.
