Charolette Ruth Lawton, Corydon, formerly of Louisville, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at the Laurels of Worthington in Columbus, Ohio.
Born Oct. 7, 1929 in Laconia, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Octavia Beard.
She was a 1947 graduate of Laconia High School, employed by the A & P Co., Bell Telephone and, after being a full-time homemaker, worked 18 years as secretary and bookkeeper at Heth-Washington Elementary School. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Central and Unity Chapel United Methodist Church near Ramsey, serving as a Sunday school teacher, prayer and small group leader and a certified lay speaker.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Herbert W. Lawton; a son, Steven Lawton of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Karen Nothdurft of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Cheryl Lawton of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Clyde Beard of Georgetown; a sister, Betty Brunner of Corydon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Visitation: Saturday, Jan. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Memorial service: Saturday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a celebration meal at First Capital Christian Church, 305 Oliver St., Corydon.
Officiants: The Rev. Holly Hardsaw and Karen Nothdurft.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Unity Chapel United Methodist Church near Ramsey for Noah’s Ark Preschool.
