Carl R. Walter, 89, Corydon, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born June 10, 1925, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Frank and Merle Stonecipher Walter.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church in Corydon, was a former member of the Corydon Country Club, was a charter member of the Corydon Jaycees and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marilyn L. Lockhart; two brothers, Charles E. and Harold F. Walter; and two sisters, Leola Grable and Thelma Turner.
Survivors include a son, John L. Walter of Corydon; a daughter, JoAnn Walter of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother, Robert O. Walter of Meadeville, Pa.; a sister, Anna Lee Crosier of Corydon; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Memorial service: Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Andy Hansen.
