Richard Lee Neumann, 76, Milltown, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014.
He was the son of the late Frank and Alice Neumann.
He served in the Army, serving a drill sergeant, then joined the Kentucky National Guard. He worked at The Courier-Journal, beginning in the maintenance department advancing to safety and security director of the Bingham companies. He served as a special police officer for the City of Louisville, volunteered for the WHAS Crusade for Children, American Red Cross, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Safe Place, was a member of the American Newspaper Publishers Association and served on a variety of boards and committees committed to making workplace safety a priority. He also was a Louisville Bell Award recipient.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Conrad Neumann.
Survivors include his wife, the former Janet Thompson; two daughters, Jill and Bonnie; two sons, Frank (Scott) and Richard (Todd); a brother, John (Jack); a sister, Francis; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Tribute: Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Funeral: Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
