Donald E. (Donnie) Conrad, 66, Corydon, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at University Hospital in Louisville.
Born March 11, 1948, in Corydon, he was the son of Charles E. Conrad of Corydon and the late Bernice Barksdale Conrad.
He was an owner, trainer, driver and breeder of Standardbred horses, as well as a former member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Harness Horseman’s Association and a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and Indiana Standardbred Association, of which he was also a multiple-term board member. He spent a lifetime in the harness racing industry, beginning his driving career in 1977, mainly competing in Indiana and Kentucky, and driving his last race in 2001.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Edna Conrad.
Survivors in addition to his father include his wife, the former Roselea Cannon; two sons, Charlie Conrad of McCordsville and Chris Conrad of Cincinnati; a brother, Ronnie Conrad of Corydon; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
