The Harrison County Hammerheads splashed into a third-consecutive victory at the 2014 Southern Indiana Swim Association Championships Saturday afternoon.
The 88-event meet brought together seven Southern Indiana teams for a final competition of the summer hosted by the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center.
HCST’s 2,756-1/2 points pulled ahead of West Clark Swim Team’s 2,682-1/2 and South Harrison Swim Team placed sixth with 184 points.
JAC came in third with 1,816 points, Nafc Flying Fish fourth with 764-1/2, Charlestown Sharks with 749-1/2 and Clarksville Dolphins finished last with 172.
Andy Pappano, coach of the Harrison County Swim Team, said he attributes the Hammerhead’s success to the team’s dedication through the years.
‘The reason we have such a good team is because we have this core group of swimmers who have stuck with it since I started seven years ago,’ Pappano said. ‘The commitment to swimming in Harrison County has always been there, we’ve always had this deep tradition.
‘It’s just been a joy to me to watch these kids grow up,’ he said.
