Henry Don Jeffries Sr., 92, Taswell, died Monday, May 12, 2014.
Born July 23, 1921, in Caryville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Don Greer and Gladys Prillman Jeffries.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II, an electrician and retired from LG&E. He was a life member of VFW Post 15015, a charter member of the National WWII Museum, a lifetime member of the NRA, History Club and Handyman Club, a sponsored member of the USO, commander of the DAV, associate member of the FOP, senior member of the USAA, a member of Fairview General Baptist Church in Taswell, a 32nd Degree Mason, a founding member of St. Joseph’s Indian School, an honorary citizen of Boys Town and an honorary chairman of NRCC’s Business Advisory Council.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Judith Agnes Colcord; a sister, Geraldine Branham; and a brother, Nathan Jeffries.
Survivors include five children, H. Don Jeffries Jr., Judith Jeffries, John Nathan Colcord Jeffries, Davidson Fitzpatrick Jeffries and Anne Jeffries Beach; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a caregiver, Shirley Collins.
Visitation: Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany.
Funeral: Saturday, May 17, at noon at the funeral home with burial and military honors in Eastridge Fairview Cemetery in Taswell.
