Highway worker burned in explosion

An employee with the Harrison County Highway Dept. was injured Friday morning after a small explosion at the highway garage north of Corydon.
The employee, Bobby Harris, a District 1 truck driver, was burned on his leg and arm when a hot box trailer had a burner go out, which allowed gas to build up in a confined space. When the burner was reignited, it essentially exploded, Kevin Russel, county engineer, said.
A hot box is a trailer that has a heated compartment that keeps asphalt hot while patching potholes.
Harris is recovering at home. The hot box is likely a total loss, Russel said.
