Derrick S. Jacobs

Derrick Scott Jacobs, 35, Elizabeth, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in New Albany.
Born Aug. 9, 1978, in New Albany, he was the son of Darrell Scott Jacobs and Rebecca Kay (Becky) Whelan Thomas, both of Corydon.
He was a barber at D & D Barber Shop in New Albany, was formerly employed at Wick’s Pizza and Custom Plywood, both in New Albany, and was a member of New Life Christian Church near Lanesville.
Survivors besides his parents include a daughter, Taylor Paige Jacobs of Sellersburg; his stepfather, David O. Thomas of Corydon; his grandparents, Ruth and Henry Branham of Corydon, Bill and Shirley Whelan of Mount Washington, Ky., and Darrell R. Jacobs of Elizabeth; two brothers, Dustin Thomas and Dylan Jacobs; and two sisters, Alex and Nicole Jacobs.
Visitation: Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Life Christian Church east of Lanesville.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at the church with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Pete Baumgartle.
Pallbearers: Dustin Thomas, Henry Branham, Josh Orme, J.W. Grimes, Jeff Topping and Russ Whelan.
Arrangements: Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the donor’s choice of a drug rehabilitation or counseling program.
