Clarence Rhodes Jr., 86, Corydon, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at his home.
Born June 20, 1927, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Clarence D. Sr. and Tina Heishman Rhoads.
He was the former owner/operator of C. Rhodes Jr. Grain Dealers, was formerly a car hauler for Teamsters Union Local No. 89, was formerly an insurance salesman with Farm Bureau Insurance, was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church near Corydon and the American Legion and was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as a corpsman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Max Rhoads and Walter Rhoades, and a sister, Mary Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, the former Adelle Lillpop; two sons, David Rhodes of Corydon and John Rhodes of Georgetown; two daughters, Karen Jones of Palmyra and Anne Phillips of Corydon; a brother, Larry Rhoads of Corydon; a sister, Norma Wiseman of Valley City; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiants: The Revs. Ron Russell and Jim Higdon.
Pallbearers: Scott, Kevin and Jason Jones, Matt Brunner, Matt Weathers, Matt Phillips and Jerry Hunley.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
