Frederick W. Martin

Frederick W. Martin Sr., 76, Alton, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1937, in Elizabeth, he was the son of the late Clarence William and Altha Langsdon Martin.
He was an Army veteran, a sheet metal journeyman for Frank Monroe Heating and Cooling and later an employee at Martin Heating and Cooling and was a member of American Legion Post 133 in Alton.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Frederick William Martin Jr. and Kent David Martin.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geneva Collins; two sons, Boyd Ray Martin of Crandall and Thomas Vincent Martin of New Albany; five daughters, Donna Durbin of Irvington, Ky., Dianna White and Judy Martin, both of Corydon, Hallie Denise Sillings of Leavenworth and Nancy Singleton of Brandenburg; three stepdaughters, Tenia Reid of Jeffersonville, Betty White of New Albany and Eva Buckle of Clarksville; two sisters, Wilma Brown and Jane Nichols, both of Elizabeth; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 16, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Thursday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial, and military rites, in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
Officiant: The Rev. Richard Goodwin.
Pallbearers: Steven Carman, Cody Martin, Brandon Sillings, William and Michael Heitkemper, Matthew Harding, Daniel Bruce and Trevor Martin.
