Donnie (Magoo) Monroe, 59, Corydon, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at his home.
Born March 1, 1954, in Corydon, he was the son of Wilma Gayle Garbrough Monroe of Corydon and the late William Gilbert Monroe.
He was formerly employed as a lineman with Harrison County REMC and was a member of First Capital Christian Church in Corydon.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Anne Monroe.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his fianc’ of 13 years, Sheila Melton Kennon, two sons, Jeremy B. Monroe of Brandenburg and Dustin L. Monroe of Corydon; a daughter, Paige L. Monroe of Milltown; a stepson, Jesse Melton of Corydon; two stepdaughters, Amber Kidd of Depauw and Christina Kennon of Corydon; three brothers, James William and Gary Gilbert Monroe, both of Corydon, and Roger Lewis Franks of Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Virginia Sue Monroe Purvis of Corydon; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Jan. 13, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 14, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiants: The Rev. Randy Kirk and Pastor Vince Garmon.
Pallbearers: Joe Mathes, Mike Marshall, Frank Boris, Jay White, Cody Cotner and Gary Welch.
Honorary pallbearers: Larry and Joshua Purvis.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
