Alpha J. Brown

Alpha Jean Brown, 88, Corydon, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Corydon Nursing Home.
Born July 4, 1925, in Bloomingburg, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry Elwood and Lina Edith Warner Allen.
She was a retired employee of Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, where she worked as a nursing assistant for more than 20 years, and a member of Corydon United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh (Peck) Brown; a grandson, Stanley Lee Swift; and a great-grandson, David Lee William Swift.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Linn Woods and Mary Ellen Hill, both of Corydon; a brother, John Elwood Allen of Arizona; two sisters, Linda Lou Graves of Wilmington, Ohio, and Barbara Newman of Jeffersonville, Ohio; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pfrimmer’s Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Richard Goodwin.
The family suggests memorial gifts to her church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
