Rosetta E. Smith

Rosetta E. Hess Smith, 92, New Albany, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born Sept. 19, 1921, in Lanesville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Theresia Geswein Hess.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church and, more recently, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Julius W. Smith; four brothers, Francis, Wilbur, Albert and Melvin Hess; two sisters, Lula Mae Kochert and Marie Smith; a grandson, Rick Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Krista Ann Smith.
Survivors include four sons, Jim Smith of New Albany, Dick Smith, of Borden, Juder Smith of Greenville and Jerry Smith of Floyds Knobs; four daughters, Phyllis Andres and Darlene Schy, both of Sellersburg, Karen Thomas of Indianapolis and Denise Bomersbach of Georgetown; two sisters, Irene Naville and Marcella Naville; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 11 a.m., at Kraft Funeral Service’s Charlestown Road location in New Albany.
Funeral Mass: Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the charity of the donor’s choice.
