Wayne M. Jenkins

Wayne Merlin Jenkins, 98, Marengo, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation Indian Creek in Corydon.
Born April 11, 1915, near Marengo, he was the son of the late Paris Lee and Rebecca M. Grunden Jenkins.
He was a graduate of Marengo High School and Central Normal College of Danville, where he earned a degree in elementary education. He taught at Marengo Elementary School for 41 years, retiring in June 1978. He served in the Auxiliary Military Police of the Army Hoosier Ordnance Plant as an investigator from July 14, 1942, to Nov. 14, 1945. He was a 50-year award gold member of Marengo Lodge No. 475 F&AM and a member of Marengo Christian Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Burl and Paris Lee Jr. Jenkins.
Survivors include a son, Wayne J. Jenkins of Milltown; two daughters, Francine Miller of Macon, Ga., and Linda Mills of Louisville; a sister, Gail Dillman of Marengo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 14, after 9 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Milltown.
Funeral: Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with interment in Batman Ridge Cemetery near Milltown.
Officiants: Brothers Ben Underhill and Loren Sweeney.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Marengo Christian Church.
