Charles Eugene (Bunny) Evans, 94, Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Chillicothe, Ill., and Corydon, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center.
Born Aug. 15, 1918, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Viola Groft Evans.
He was a 1937 graduate of Corydon High School, where he played basketball. He worked as a sales associate at the Sales Store in Corydon during and after his high school years. He served in the Navy during World War II. Shortly after his discharge, he began working as a salesman for Wolverine World Wide, moving to Chillicothe in 1951, where he lived for 35 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chillicothe and Arrowhead Country Club and was active in the Chillicothe Park District tennis program. He moved to Sun City Center in 1985 and was a member of the United Community Church in Sun City Center.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harlan Evans, and a sister, Glorianne Huff.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, the former Mary Auxier; three daughters, Susanne Sarver and Marcy Coppernoll, both of Peoria, Ill., and Mary Lou Holland of University Place, Wash.; a son, Richard Evans of Dunedin, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life service: Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Leora Brown School in Corydon. Cremation was chosen with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Corydon Christian Church.
