Donald R. Sams
Donald Roy Sams, 78, Corydon, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at his home.
Born Jan. 29, 1935, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Jesse J. and Esther Stickan Sams.
He was a retired switchman with the K & I Railroad Co. in Louisville and a member of the Corydon Sportman’s Club and the Methodist faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Graf; a grandson, Todd Knable; a brother, Eugene Sams; and a sister, Mary Lou Hughes.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former Patricia Bliss; five daughters, Donna Martin of Depauw, Amy Valentine of Corydon, Teresa Sams of Georgetown and Kathy Wariner and Kelly Sams, both of Brandenburg; a brother, Lloyd Sams of Decatur, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday, Sept. 9, from noon to 6 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Memorial service: Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Officiants: Brother Gary Valentine and Pastor Gene Stambaugh.
