The Harrison County College and Career Success Coalition’s first College and Career Fair will be Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Corydon Central High School. There will be an opportunity to network with local employers, familiarize yourself with the job market and speak with business representatives about employment and possible internship opportunities. Some of the businesses attending include Bennett & Bennett Insurance, First Harrison Bank, Great Clips, Harrison County Hospital, Old Capital Veterinary Hospital and Walmart.
Representatives from local colleges, universities and training programs also will be present to explain their programs. Some of the programs to be represented are Harrison County Lifelong Learning, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Southeast, Ivy Tech Community College, The School of Phlebotomy, Prosser Career Education Center, Purdue College of Technology, Spencerian College, Spalding University, Sullivan University, Vincennes University and West Point.
Members of the Indiana Youth Institute, 21st Century Scholars program, ISM Loans and Work One in New Albany also will be present.
Noted educator, musician and author Neil Brewer will perform poetry and music from his book, ‘The 8 O’Clock Bell,’ at 5 p.m. Brewer, who began his career as a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher, is a keynote speaker/performer for special events and conferences across the country.
While at the fair, enter for a chance to win gift cards from JayC, Walmart, Heart & Soul Florist and The Natural Touch, tickets to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari and Newport Aquarium and a computer class from Harrison County Lifelong Learning.
