John T Ashton, 94, Corydon, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Indian Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Laconia, he was the son of the late Sidney R. and Lillian Davis Ashton.
He was retired from the old A&P Tea Co. and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, was a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church and the VFW Post 2950 and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline E. Saulman Ashton; a brother, Morton Ashton; and a sister, Alice Ashton.
Survivors include a son, John F. Ashton of Corydon; a daughter, Ann E. Monahan of Evansville; a sister, Jane Ann Davis of New Albany; and six grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, Aug. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Sunday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
Officiant: The Rev. Michael Monahan.
Pallbearers: John F., Jared and Jesse Ashton and Mike, Michael and Brian Monahan.
The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
