A scale model of the Battle of Corydon, constructed by Carl Anderson of Michigan, will be on display Friday through Sunday as part of the 150th anniversary activities of the Battle of Corydon, only one of two Civil War battles on northern soil recognized by historians.
The model, which was given to the Historical Society of Harrison County, will be on exhibit at the Carriage House along Walnut Street, part of the Corydon Capitol State Historic Site. It will be open during historic site hours, which are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There is no charge to view the exhibit.
The Historical Society also will have a limited number of its fold-up booklets showing Morgan’s Raid (Battle of Corydon on one side and Morgan’s entire raid on the other).
‘These are pretty cool and give a memorable overview of events,’ Karen Schwartz, Society president, said. ‘They are handmade, not professional, so we just take donations.’
For more information, contact Schwartz by e-mail at at [email protected] com or call 736-2373.
Additional activities surrounding the 150th anniversary were published in last week’s newspaper. Details also can be found online at www.corydondemocrat.com and http://thisisindiana.org.
