Harold G. (Strawberry) Schneider, 78, Lanesville, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 7, 1934, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Agnes M. Schellenberger Schneider.
He was owner and operator of K & H Caf’ in Lanesville from 1960 to 1995, precinct committeeman and a delegate for the Democrat Party, president of the Indiana License Beverage Association, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Council 1808, a charter member of Maurice Kochert Assembly 3289 4th degree and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marlene Litch; two sons, Matthew L. Schneider of Seymour and Dale E. Schneider of Dallas; two daughters, Pam J. Schneider and Patricia A. Bliss, both of New Albany; three brothers, Kenneth and Herb Schneider, both of Lanesville, and Donald Schneider of Indianapolis; a sister, Mary Eisert of Lanesville; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Friday, June 14, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30, and Saturday, June 15, after 8 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial, and military rites, in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: His grandchildren, Isaac, Justin, Kyle and Sydney Schneider and Tyler and Clayton Bliss.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
