YMCA offers clinic for middle school volleyball
The YMCA of Harrison County will host a volleyball clinic for those students going into grades 6 through 8 on June 24 through 28 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
Participants will focus on basic volleyball skills such as passing, serving, hitting and setting to gear them up for middle school volleyball tryouts. Offense and defense skill structures will also be incorporated.
The clinic will be instructed by Walter Pauly, the Y’s sports and aquatics director. Pauly has 20-plus years of coaching experience at the high school, college and club level.
Cost of the clinic is $40 for YMCA of Harrison County members and $55 for non-YMCA of Harrison County members.
Participants should wear athletic clothing, tennis shoes and knee pads and bring a water bottle each day.
Next month, the Y will host a volleyball clinic for those students entering grades 9 through 12. Details will be made available at a later date.
Financial assistance is available, with support from the Harrison County Community Foundation and donors, for a variety of programs and membership at the YMCA of Harrison County. It is the Y’s pledge, within its available resources, to provide services to individuals regardless of ability to pay. Those unable to pay the full fee may apply to receive sliding-scale assistance through the Open Doors Financial Assistance program. Open Doors assistance is granted based on personal need, enrollment limitation and the Y’s financial resources.
