Fern E. Higdon, 93, Crandall, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Bee Hive Homes Assisted Living Facility in Georgetown.
Born Feb. 19, 1920, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte Scheler Roudenbush.
She was a homemaker and a member of VFW Auxiliary in New Albany, the Home Economics Club of Jackson Township and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Corydon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Higdon; two sons, Ray and Larry Joe Higdon; four sisters, Edith Carpenter, Relda Moore, Mildred Snider and Thelma Gentry; and four brothers, Glenn, Harlan, Forrest and Melvin Roudenbush.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald C Higdon of Quincy, Fla., Michael W. Higdon of Corydon and Richard D. Higdon of Georgetown; a daughter, Carol Schneider of New Albany; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday, June 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 10, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Monday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, both in Corydon.
