Ivan C. Wright


Ivan C. Wright, 89, Port Lavaca, Texas, formerly of Indiana, died Monday, May 13, 2013.
Born June 9, 1923, in Liberty, Ky., he was the son of the late Robert R. Wright and Emma Wright.
He was co-owner of Sno-Bright Laundry and Cleaners (1959-1961), owned Gulfway Donut Shop (1961-1962), was a Farm Bureau agent (1962-1967) and a truck driver for Chemical Leman in Freeport, Texas (1967-1983). He also served as a past member of the Chamber of Commerce, Port Lavaca Optimist Club, Calhoun County Fair Board, Calhoun County Cattlemen Association, Calhoun County Appraisal District for four years and Masonic Lodge 1104 in Austwell, was a member of Masonic Lodge 36 in Port Lavaca, the Shriners AL-AM in Temple (Corpus Christi Chapter) and First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca and was named Man of the Year of Agriculture of Calhoun County in 1964.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Wright; son, Curtis Wright; and 12 siblings.
Survivors include a son, Bernie McGrady; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Thursday, May 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Texas.
Funeral: Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Greenlawn Gardens with honors by Lavaca Masonic Lodge 36 Agent Free and Accepted Masons.
Officiant: Pastor Mike Gresham.
Pallbearers: Bobby Kyle, Thomas Bull, Mason Wright, James Wood, Joe Morales and Christopher McGrew.
Honorary pallbearers: Billy Bull, Jack and Jim Beeler and Masonic Lodge Nos. 36 and 1104.
