Spencer earns win in 2-hole playoff
North Harrison sophomore Chase Spencer outlasted Floyd Central’s Cleyton Crum in a sudden-death playoff to take the individual Wooded View Invitational title Saturday at Wooded View Golf Course in Clarksville.
Spencer and Crum led the field with 10-over-par rounds of 81 on a cold, wet and windy golf course.
Both golfers bogeyed the first play-off hole, the par 4 first. On 2, Spencer got up-and-down from the left side of the green for par, while Crum three-putted for bogey, giving Spencer the win.
‘It’s never easy to win in a playoff, and Chase played well, never making a costly mistake,’ North Harrison coach Ross Schulz said. ‘Hopefully, he can carry the momentum forward, especially in a few weeks here at conference.’
The Mid-Southern Conference tournament will be played May 18 at Wooded View.
As a team, North Harrison finished fourth behind winner Floyd Central (344) and two conference foes, Brownstown (346) and Scottsburg (349). The Cougars’ team total was 358.
Other scores for North Harrison were Joseph Hinton, 86; Austin Davis, 92; Andrew Dones, 99; and Shawn Bishop, 104.
