Mayme Ruth Hopper Laswell, 94, English, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 7:15 a.m. at her home.
Born Sept. 23, 1918, in Hamilton County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hopper and Murl Kellams.
She was a homemaker, farmer, caregiver, 4-H leader, co-owner of Laswell Dairy Supply and a member of Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church, where she was part of the Lincoln Hills Quilters, and the Homemakers club.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Laswell, in 1995; three brothers, Floyd, Riley and Deward Hopper; and a grandson, Steve Wright.
Survivors include seven children, Nancy Ross of Portsmouth, Ohio, Ellen Wright of Haines City, Fla., David Laswell, Faye Trambaugh and Lou Ann Timberlake, all of English, Gerrell Laswell of Leavenworth and Molly Whooley of Corydon; two sisters, Norma Eickelberger of Okeechobee, Fla., and Helen Butler of Punta Gorda, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, March 15, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo and Saturday, March 16, after 9 a.m. at Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church in English.
Funeral: Saturday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at the church with burial in Poor Farm Cemetery.
Officiant: Brother Trevor Timberlake.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church, Poor Farm Cemetery, Alzheimer’s Association or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
