Verna Louise Higdon, 56, Corydon, formerly of Illinois, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born May 19, 1956, in Moline, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Jewell M. Crow Higdon.
She was an elementary school teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Milan, Ill., a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Moline and the National Education Association, was a Mary Kay representative and attended First Congregational Church in Moline.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Higdon.
Survivors include a brother, the Rev. James Higdon of Corydon.
Visitation: Friday, March 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cana United Methodist Church Cemetery near Paris Crossing.
Officiant: The Rev. Douglas Finney.
